{"id":572,"date":"2019-10-08T00:16:50","date_gmt":"2019-10-08T00:16:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ncpeacebooth.org\/content\/?page_id=572"},"modified":"2019-10-19T19:26:39","modified_gmt":"2019-10-19T19:26:39","slug":"petitions","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"http:\/\/ncpeacebooth.org\/content\/2019-documents\/petitions\/","title":{"rendered":"Petitions"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>We have only one petition this year:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Ending\n#ForeverWar<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Congress passed the Authorization for Use of\nMilitary Force (AUMF) following 9\/11. Presidents Bush, Obama and Trump used it\nto justify warrantless surveillance, indefinite detention, the lethal use of\ndrones, the bombing of Syria, and at least 41 military operations in 19\ncountries. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The AUMF is a flawed, overly broad, blank\ncheck that fails to specify what actions are authorized and empowers the\nPresident to target anyone deemed a threat \u2013 even civilians.
